Professor Dewan is putting CARE back into healthCARE:
The last in the efforts of Professor Dewan to improve a patient centred approach to healthcare, is a submission to the Victorian Legislative Council investigation of AHPRA: I have protested that the medical board "should" be further investigated and the board members held to account for the impact on the 55 women and the harm to Paediatric surgical care - it is now happening - thanks to those who came to listen to the oral submission at Parliament house on 21st August. It is reassuring to know that the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency is now under investigation of the Victorian Legislative Council - http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/lsic/legislation-committee/inquiries/inquiry/350. The transcript will be available on the parliamentary website.
As background - In 2004, Professor Dewan wrote an extensive letter of complaints about medical outcomes to the precursor of the now "Australian" Medical Board; these claims were handled badly, and were about which he complained to the Health Ombudsman, and since which he has been falsely accused and vilified by the Medical Board, an organisation that recently been declared, in THE AGE newspaper, as an Incompetent medical board, because of 55 woman contracting hepatitis from a "supervised" drug addicted anaesthetist.
There is a crisis in our Healthcare Industry in Australia: please read ..... Crisis in Healthcare - Victorian hospitals have new buildings and their budgets cut, with the State and Federal Governments blaming each other; Complaints about doctors are up by 300%; nurses are just as likely to NOT be doing nursing because of the pressures;
Help stop the Medical Board abusing good doctors, while treating patients with genuine complaints with contempt. And, let's stop dangerous doctors before they cause multiple episodes of harm. Having been dragged before a committee to be threatened with the loss of my registration for "suggesting an operation", with the father coming to support the surgical decision, with a letter from Professor John Hutson agreeing with the surgery.....the medical board is clearly not advised to do the right thing: instead of throwing the issue out as vexatious, they are continuing to investigate.....because they can; because they want to shut me up.
